Ear wax is produced by a combination of dead skin from the ear canal mixed with the cerumen produced by the cerumen glands of the outer part of the ear canal. Wax is healthy and has a strong anti-bacterial effect. It also helps to prevent insects from entering the ear canal. It has many different appearances which range from hard to very soft, as well as many different colours.
